Writing Update: 3000 Orgasms
Yesterday, I had an incredibly insightful meeting with my developmental editor, and I couldn’t wait to share the highlights with you all! This was a big moment for me—hearing feedback on a project so close to my heart. It’s exciting (and a little nerve-wracking), but her encouraging words gave me renewed energy and a clearer focus for the next phase of writing 3000 Orgasms: How I Went from a Sexless Marriage to a Multi-Orgasmic Wonderland.
The Strengths: Thoughtful, Sincere, and Playful
One of the most positive things my editor said was how much heart the book has. She told me that it’s clear I’ve poured my soul into understanding my own sexual challenges and that I genuinely want to help readers with theirs. This “go first” approach—where I lay bare my struggles in the hope of inspiring others—really comes through, and she believes that sincerity will resonate. Knowing that I’ve conveyed this honestly and with goodwill means everything to me, because helping others build a vision for their sexual lives is what this book is all about.
She also said that my voice and tone shine throughout the manuscript. The playful, candid, and confident way I tell my story gives the book a lightness and makes even complex topics accessible. This balance—combining humour with insight—lets me gently lead readers on their own journeys toward breaking down taboos around sex and sexuality. It was incredibly reassuring to hear that I’ve struck that tone because, in many ways, that’s exactly how I want readers to experience this book: as a page-turner that inspires them to reflect and grow, but also gives them permission to laugh along the way.
Lastly, my editor confirmed something that made my heart soar—she called 3000 Orgasms “compelling and topical.” Knowing that the subject matter is engaging and relevant to readers right now was such a boost for me. She even said it’s the kind of book readers won’t want to put down. Hearing those words gave me a huge dose of inspiration as I gear up to finish the next draft!
Who Am I Writing For?
One of the most useful parts of our discussion was clarifying exactly who this book is for. We spent time talking about my primary reader, and I realised with even more clarity that she’s a woman aged 35-50—busy, juggling children, possibly ageing parents, work, and a relationship (or trying to find one). Her sex life is likely low on her list of priorities, and when she does think about it, she feels dissatisfied, as though things could or should be better.
What’s most challenging for her is that she doesn’t even know what’s possible when it comes to her sexuality—just like I didn’t when I was stuck in a sexless marriage. That’s why she’ll be drawn to this book: the sheer audacity of the number—3000 orgasms in one year—sparks curiosity. It’s a wild, expansive vision of what’s possible, one she may not have even imagined for herself.
What Makes 3000 Orgasms Unique?
My editor also helped me articulate what makes this book stand out in the crowded space of sex advice and erotic memoirs. It’s not just the story of my personal transformation—it’s also about how I tracked every encounter to truly understand my sexual journey and to show others how they can do the same. This approach—combining data with experience—is my unique offering.
One of the biggest challenges women face, I realised, is that they don’t even have the space to envision what a fulfilling sex life could look like. They’re so busy keeping life on track that their sexuality becomes an afterthought. My book isn’t just about orgasms—it’s about empowering women to devise their own sexual map and explore their desires fully, even amidst the chaos of everyday life. Tracking my sex life helped me better understand what I wanted and how to get there, and it’s a tool I believe can change the game for others too. My message is clear: if I can create my own multi-orgasmic wonderland, so can you.
Next Steps
Of course, there are still things to refine. My editor suggested I flesh out a few more of my stories to give readers even deeper insight into my experiences and build a stronger narrative arc. These tweaks will help tie everything together, creating a cohesive flow that takes readers from the beginning of my journey to where I am now—thriving, sexually confident, and in a loving, long-term relationship.
With her guidance in mind, I’m excited to dive into the next draft. The January 31, 2025 launch date feels just around the corner, but I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and make this book the best it can be. Knowing how engaged and inspired readers are likely to feel is a huge motivation as I push forward.
